Updated Script

Hey all,
I made some changes to the script. I feel these changes made the story more complete and whole. Special thanks to Ross Ozarka for his help with expanding these ideas. Anyone who has other comments about the script or story, just comment, I'm open to others opinions and suggestions. :D

Thanks!

FADE IN:

INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY- DAY

(CU) NICK, a smiling, charming young boy, travels confidently up the empty hallway. Rather than bounce up and down, his body glides towards the viewer. (Zoom Out) Nick is an 8-year-old boy born with no arms or legs. He is in a wheelchair controlled by his small, two-toed foot.

CONNER, a 12-year-old bully, who carries a slingshot in his pocket, comes from behind and knocks Nick's backpack off of his wheelchair. He continues to walk by, as if nothing happened.

(CU) Nick, upset, leans over and grabs his backpack strap with his teeth and pulls it back into his chair. He continues up the hallway to his classroom. When he gets to the door, he sticks his chin in the air to push down the door handle.

INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM- DAY

The door swings towards the camera to reveal Nick in his chair. The classroom is rowdy and there are wads of paper and paper airplanes that fly by him as he wheels into the room.

CUT TO:

Nick sits at his desk, in the back of the classroom, with a grin on his face while reading his book. A paper wad bounces off his desk, but he is so engulfed in his book that he doesn’t notice. Conner comes in and goes to sit at the desk next to Nick. He glances at Nick and smirks. Conner gets up from his desk and as he walks past Nick, he knocks his book off his desk. Conner smiles and laughs as he continues walking out of the classroom. Nick sits at his desk with his head held low, looking at his book on the ground.

FADE TO:

INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM- DAY (LATER)

Nick sits at his desk drinking his lunch from a cup. Conner stares at Nick, while taking a bite out of his sandwich with one hand and using his other hand to dig in a bag of chips. Nick is smiling and enjoying his lunch. (CU) Nick looks outside to the schoolyard and notices a white flower growing out of the school building, right along the window sill line. Nick believes it to be strange that a flower would grow out of a brick building. He stares at the flower for a moment and lifts his head, away from his drink and turns to go outside. Conner towers over Nick and smacks Nick's lunch onto the ground. He shrugs at Nick and continues walking out of the classroom. Nick looks down at his spilled lunch with a frustrated look on his face. Nick backs away from his desk and starts to leave the room.

EXT. SCHOOLYARD- DAY

(Long shot) Nick rolls through the concrete basketball courts, towards the swings, slides, still with his head hanging low; frustrated from Conner knocking over his lunch. Nick slowly picks up his head and notices the flower he saw from the classroom window. Nick smiles as he pulls up to the white daisy. He looks at the daisy from the front and the side, intrigued that it is growing from the building. He smiles and leans over to smell the flower. As he's leaning, he sees Conner's hand reaching for the flower. Nick quickly bites Conners finger. Conner snatches his hand back to see bite marks. He gets angry and shoves Nick's chair. One of Nick's front wheels hits a large rock and spins his chair, forcing Nick to fly over the bar that holds him in and onto the concrete.

Conner pulls the flower from the building, walks to Nick, and towers over him. Nick looks up at Conner in pain, with scrapes on his face from the concrete. Conner looks down at Nick, still angry, drops the flower on the ground, next to Nick, and squishes it with his shoe. Conner makes a snide face at Nick and walks away, leaving Nick by himself.

Still in pain, Nick wiggles, trying to get up, but it doesn't work. Nick tries to get up a different way, by attempting to lean on his side, but falls back over. Nick lays his head on the ground, giving up hope. He closes his eyes as a tear rolls down his face. When he slowly opens his eyes and sees the crushed daisy lying there helpless. He stares at the daisy and moves his shoulders forward, in an army crawl motion. Nick gets to the daisy and picks it up with his teeth. Then, he drags himself to the rock his chair had hit and uses his chin to maneuver his shoulder to the top of the rock. Nick twists his hips towards the rock until his body can't bend any farther. He slowly picks up his head from the rock and stands on his own. Nick smiles with self-satisfaction and maneuvers his way back into his chair. Nick sets the daisy in his lap as he heads back towards the school.
